In Sussex, we’re incredibly lucky to have strong creative communities, with many freelancers who follow their passion.

However, we are seeing a skills gap, with creative and cultural sectors being our second-most priority for development.

In this complex society, young people are starting to forget their creative ambitions for a ‘safer’ AI proof career.

I’m here, as a certified life coach and careers adviser to empower students, graduates and creatives to build a varied portfolio career, making their artistic dreams a financially viable reality.

With lived experience as a creative freelancer and the expertise of local careers adviser, I am equipped with the knowledge I wish I’d had at 21!

While this is firmly your journey, and my role is largely facilitative, I can highlight the common pitfalls of a freelancer’s path… before you find them out for yourself.

More than that, my biggest hope is that you leave the session feeling sure that a creative career is possible for you, and highly motivated to make it happen.

Choosing a career in the arts continues to be a radical act: it is increasingly challenging to access support for a sustainable and fulfilling creative career.
